Matthew D. Sobolewski is a partner in the firm’s New York office and practices primarily in the areas of complex commercial and bankruptcy litigation. His commercial litigation practice includes advising and representing businesses and individuals in disputes involving breach of contract, fraud, tortious interference, and other business tort claims.
Matt’s bankruptcy litigation practice includes advising and representing clients in preference, fraudulent conveyance, and other avoidance actions; claim objection proceedings, and automatic stay litigation.
Matt also has experience with internal investigations and litigation involving product liability, securities and commodities fraud, the misappropriation and use of trade secrets, employee raiding, and real estate and land use.
Prior to joining SGL, Matt was associated with the law firms of Herrick, Feinstein LLP and Holland & Knight LLP (Chicago and New York). Before entering private practice, he served as a prosecutor in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in Chicago, Illinois. During his tenure, he worked within the Civil Actions, Criminal Prosecutions, and Juvenile Justice Bureaus, and prosecuted over 50 trials to verdict. Prior to and while attending law school, Matt worked as a commercial banker for the leading middle market bank in Chicago.
