Peter J. Vodola’s practice involves a wide variety of commercial litigation in federal and state courts
throughout the country, and he has represented clients in matters concerning commercial contract law,
insurance law, land use and municipal law and other issues. His appellate experience includes litigation
in Connecticut and elsewhere concerning Constitutional law, telecommunications law, tax liability and
other matters.
Pete has considerable experience representing insurers in matters involving annuity payment obligations
relating to structured settlements. His experience in annuity-related litigation dates from 1998, when the first state structured settlement protection acts went into effect, and he has advised clients concerning the several dozen statutes governing structured settlement transfers. His annuity litigation experience includes the representation of clients in matters involving bankruptcy, class action claims, and broker rebating and short-changing claims. He has argued and won dispositive rulings for his clients in a number of states, including Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia. Pete also advises insurance companies on compliance with regulatory requirements in a variety of insurance fields.
The Connecticut Law Tribune chose Pete as a recipient of its New Leaders of the Law Award for 2005, when he was honored with the Development of the Law award, given in recognition of attorneys whose efforts have substantially helped shape particular areas of the law.
Upon graduating law school, Pete was a law clerk at the Connecticut Appellate Court. He previously worked for several years as a newspaper reporter and editor in Connecticut.
