Robert D. Laurie is a partner with the firm’s Hartford, Connecticut office. He concentrates his practice on complex civil and commercial litigation. Robert represents domestic and international insurance companies in disputes concerning insurance coverage determinations, bad faith / extra-contractual insurance claims, reinsurance, construction defect / architects and engineer liability, life insurance and related financial products, directors and officers liability and environmental liability. Robert also has a broad commercial litigation background, particularly in the areas of commercial contract disputes and product liability-including medical devices.
Robert is an experienced trial lawyer who has successfully presented cases in various state and federal courts (jury and courtside). Robert has also represented clients in domestic and international arbitration and mediation proceedings arising out of re/insurance transactions. Robert currently serves as regional counsel to a large domestic insurance company for extra-contractual/bad faith litigation.
In addition to litigation, Robert regularly advises insurers on coverage issues involving first and third party insurance claims. He is routinely asked to provide advice on the construction and wording or various types of insurance and reinsurance agreements. Robert also advises clients on various risk management issues.
